The Peasant Prince
Another magic performance at the Powerhouse. This time a play called the Peasant Prince. Apart from a wonderful book, most of us would have seen the movie Mao's Last Dancer. 4 actors performed the story of the impoverished peasant boy who would become a dancer and make his parent proud and make a better life. The audience (for the 1st time for us at least) included school excursions and at the end of the performance the actors spent time talking to the children. Everyone was captivated by this inspiring story.
Gershwin & Me
Most of us know the music of George Gershwin and especially his Rhapsody in Blue. An amazing pianist, Simon Tedeschi thrilled the audience (no school children this time) with his magic fingers. Simon has performed at major concert halls throughout the world and has had his recordings in the ARIA charts. I felt humbled to see this performance. The music was magnificent and Simons hands just seemed to stroke the piano keys.
This performance put my 1 finger chopstick rendition to shame.
