Sydney Vivid Lights Cruise
The weather gods were not kind to us for this activity. The afternoon Whale Watching Cruise was cancelled (5.4 meter swell) but this did not deter us from travelling into Sydney for the Vivid Lights Cruise, in not so good weather.
Without any pre planning twelve of us boarded the same train and the same carriage, boarding at Macarthur or Luemeah. Great coordination!
We made our way from Wynyard to King Street Wharf and the southern area of Barangaroo. Prior to the cruise most of us had a meal in the neighbouring eating precinct. At 6.30 we boarded the Captain Cook Cruise vessel the John Cadman 2 for the Sydney Vivid Lights Cruise.
On board all 25 of us met up and commandeered tables and had a great time socializing, with the occasional visit to the bar. The hour-long cruise took in the main lights that can be seen from the harbour. We travelled under the illuminated Harbour Bridge and slowly cruised around Sydney Cove taking in the spectacular light show. In particular the Museum of Contemporary Arts and the Opera House presented a colourful and breathtaking display. There were also other vessels that we passed with interesting illuminated animals and further on a row of sunflowers and a waratah display in Farm Cove. The weather during the cruise cleared enough for the keen photographers to be on the open upper deck to take some interesting photos.
Thank you to all who attended for your excellent company and an enjoyable night.
